A stone tower built by Genoese colonists in 1348 as a watchtower over their walled quarter, the Galata Tower has dominated the skyline north of the Golden Horn ever since. Now a museum, its upper observation deck gives a 360-degree panorama across the old city, the Bosphorus and the Asian shore. The surrounding Galata lanes are lined with cafes and boutiques.
The classic 360-degree view over the domes and minarets of old Istanbul.
