The experience
Central Bangkok's oldest public park, opened in 1925 and named for the Buddha's birthplace in Nepal, covering about 57 hectares between Silom and Sathon. It has a large artificial lake with paddle-boat and swan-boat rental, manicured lawns, an outdoor gym and a roughly 2.5 km paved loop popular with runners. Large water monitor lizards live around the water and are frequently seen on the paths.
The green heart of downtown, big enough that the traffic genuinely falls away once you are inside the tree line.
