A Zapotec village of the Pueblos Mancomunados perched at 3,200 m in the Sierra Norte pines, where community guides lead you to the Mirador Yaa-Cuetzi, a kilometre-long zip line, and a 137-m suspension bridge lit up at night.
The eight mancomunados villages run all tourism themselves — no hotels, no agencies, just community cabins reached by 56 km of mountain road from Oaxaca City.
