A glass-and-steel museum at the southern foot of the Acropolis, opened in 2009 to display finds from the sacred rock. Highlights include the original Caryatids from the Erechtheion, Archaic korai statues, and the top-floor Parthenon Gallery, a glass hall aligned with the temple itself that shows the surviving frieze and pediment sculptures at eye level.
The single best place to understand the Acropolis, with its finest sculptures displayed in sight of the rock they came from.
