A town worth a whole day · Santa Fe, Panama

A cool, flower-draped mountain town in the foothills below Santa Fe National Park, where the pavement ends at cloud forest hiding fifty-odd waterfalls, Cerro Tute lookouts and Panama's best orchid gardens. Horses still outnumber tour buses.
It sits an hour up a dead-end mountain road from Santiago with no beach and almost no marketing — Panama's hikers keep it to themselves.
It's only worth the detour Dec–Apr (orchid expo in August). Turn up outside that window and you're looking at a different place; we'd rather say so than sell you the photo.
Everything above is free: the name, the photo, the rating, the exact spot. What members get is the part you can't Google: the sourced insider tip for this place (what to order, when to go, what to skip), every day of your trips unlocked in full with the insider tip on every researched stop, and the concierge at full strength, answering with your own insider tips, no daily meter.
