A museum worth the hours · New York, United States
An 1832 row house at 29 East 4th Street where the Tredwells, a wealthy merchant family, lived for almost a hundred years. Five floors hold the family's own furniture, possessions and clothing rather than period substitutes, from the double parlour down to the basement kitchens. A passageway built into the 1832 structure is documented as an early Underground Railroad site, and there is a rear garden. Closed Monday and Tuesday.
A New York family house still furnished with the actual family's things, floor by floor.
