Edo-period thatched farmhouses and hand-built stone walls clinging to an Iya Valley mountainside, climbing nearly 390 vertical meters — life here has barely changed in 300 years.
Reached only by narrow switchbacks deep in Higashi-Iya — most Iya visitors stop at the vine bridges.
