A market locals actually shop · Barcelona, Spain

A neighbourhood food market in the Sant Pere district, instantly recognisable by Enric Miralles' undulating, multicoloured mosaic roof completed in 2005. Built on the site of a former convent, it houses fishmongers, butchers, greengrocers and a handful of tapas counters where locals shop and eat. Far less tourist-choked than La Boqueria, it remains a working market with fresh Catalan produce, cured meats and seafood.
A genuine local market under a landmark wavy roof, without the crush of La Boqueria.
