The experience
An entire rocky islet in Hallyeo Maritime National Park terraced into a European-style botanical garden — some 3,000 plant species, Venus statues and camellia walks built over 30 years by one couple, reachable only by excursion boat from Geoje.
Beloved by Korean day-trippers but nearly absent from international itineraries; getting there requires reaching Geoje's ferry ports, which filters out most foreign tourists.
