A 4.7 km elevated walkway opened in 1993 on the former Vincennes railway line, which linked Gare de la Bastille to Verneuil-l'Étang from 1859 until closing in 1969. It begins just east of the Opéra Bastille atop the Viaduc des Arts, whose brick arches now house craft workshops, and runs east to the Périphérique. It predates New York's High Line by nearly two decades as the world's first elevated rail park.
Paris from ten metres up, threading through apartment courtyards no street ever shows you.
