Rome's third-largest public park at about 80 hectares, laid out in the English landscape style in the 1770s for the Borghese family on a hill just above the Spanish Steps. Inside are an artificial lake with a small temple, an orangery, an aviary, and several villas that now house museums, including the Galleria Borghese. Entry to the grounds is free and open from dawn to dusk.
The one central Rome green space big enough that the city drops away once you are among its old umbrella pines.
