The experience

A tiny congee shop on Charoen Krung Road near the old Prince cinema, cooking jok (rice porridge) over charcoal so the base picks up a faint smoky, slightly scorched aroma. It has held a Michelin Bib Gourmand since 2018. Bowls come with pork meatballs, offal and an optional raw or century egg, for roughly 45-90 baht.

The city's most celebrated congee, distinguished by a charcoal smokiness you won't get from a pot on gas.
