The primary residence and administrative seat of the Ottoman sultans from the 1460s until 1853, Topkapı became a museum by government decree in 1924. Its four successive courtyards hold the Harem, the imperial treasury, holy relics and collections of porcelain, arms and manuscripts. The palace sits on Seraglio Point overlooking the Bosphorus and Golden Horn.
Four centuries of Ottoman court life laid out across gardens, pavilions and a jewel-filled treasury.
