The experience
A 180-hectare public park in the northeast of the city, the second-largest in Rome after Villa Doria Pamphilj. Formerly a residence of the Savoy royal family, it wraps an artificial lake in stone pines, holm oaks, and laurel, with paths used for walking, jogging, cycling, and horse riding. Entry is free.
A genuinely wooded royal estate on the residential side of Rome, with almost no tourists.
