A cafe worth sitting in · Hanoi, Vietnam
An old villa at 14 Phan Huy Ích, on a quiet street north of the citadel, with a cafe on the ground floor and a contemporary art gallery on the first. The rooms are white-walled with tall windows, and the gallery rehangs regularly with work by emerging Vietnamese artists; it is free to walk up and look. Drinks run to specialty mochas, watermelon green tea and fresh pineapple with mint. Manzi also runs a separate, larger exhibition space a few streets away, which is a different address.
Hanoi's calmest art house, where the gallery costs nothing and the coffee buys you the whole afternoon.
