Built in 1823 and inaugurated in 1826, a neo-classical Pompeian-style arcade behind the Palais-Royal, now owned with the neighbouring Galerie Colbert by the Bibliothèque Nationale. Jean Paul Gaultier opened here in 1986 and set off its revival as a fashion address.
The most beautiful of the surviving passages — the one Parisians actually show visitors.
