Turkey's first museum of modern and contemporary art, founded in 2004 and reopened in 2023 in a new waterfront building designed by Renzo Piano at Galataport in Karaköy. The collection spans Turkish and international modern and contemporary work, and the building holds a cinema, a shop and a café. Its rooftop terrace and shallow reflecting pool look straight out over the Bosphorus.
A calm, light-filled museum where the rooftop and its water mirror the strait — as much a place to sit as to look at art.
