Maria da Mouraria occupies the Casa da Severa on Largo da Severa, reputed home of Maria Severa Onofriana, the singer often called the first fadista. The intimate room seats roughly twenty guests around a fixed-price tasting menu of Portuguese dishes with live fado through the evening. It sits in the heart of Mouraria, the neighbourhood where fado was born.
