Built between 1609 and 1617 for Sultan Ahmed I, this imperial mosque is famous for the more than twenty thousand blue Iznik tiles that line its interior and give it its nickname. It is one of the few mosques in the world crowned with six minarets, and faces Hagia Sophia across a garden square. It remains an active place of worship.
An Ottoman masterpiece where cascading domes and blue tilework fill the light-flooded prayer hall.
