A view that stops the walk · New York, United States
Twenty-eight acres of public garden, greenhouses, gallery space and wooded trail on a bluff directly above the Hudson in Riverdale, wrapped around a nineteenth-century mansion. The point of the place is the west-facing great lawn: the New Jersey Palisades rise straight out of the river in front of you with nothing built in between, which is close to the only uninterrupted cliff view left in New York City. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 5:30pm, last entry half an hour before close. Admission is $10 for adults, $6 for students and seniors 65 and over, $4 for children 6 and up.
The one place in the five boroughs where you look out at a wall of cliffs and no buildings.
