A cafe worth a slow morning · Taipei, Taiwan
A tea house and working refinery in Dadaocheng's old tea district, founded in 1890 and still run by the same family, facing the small Chaoyang Tea Park. Behind the shop is one of the last traditional charcoal-roasting rooms in Taipei, which is what gives the house teas their character. The counter pours Wenshan Baozhong, high-mountain oolong, Tieguanyin, Oriental Beauty and its own charcoal-roasted 奇種烏龍 for tasting before you buy. Grading is fixed and priced openly, and it closes on Sundays.
A tea merchant that has roasted over charcoal in the same Dadaocheng building since 1890, and will pour you the results.
