Pao de Acucar is a 396 m granite-and-quartz monolith at the mouth of Guanabara Bay. A two-stage cable car, the Bondinho running since 1912, climbs first to Morro da Urca and then to the summit, where panoramas take in Copacabana, Botafogo, Christ the Redeemer and the bay. Trails and rock-climbing routes also reach the top.
A short cable-car ride delivers one of Rio's definitive 360-degree panoramas over bay, beaches and mountains.
