A stretch of coast worth the drive · Tbilisi, Georgia

The Tbilisi Sea is a large artificial reservoir northeast of the city, opened in 1953 and covering about 11.6 square kilometres. Its shoreline has sandy beaches, a yacht club and the Gino Paradise aquapark, drawing locals for swimming, picnicking and water sports through the warm months. A breezy, open contrast to the dense city centre.
Tbilisi's closest open-water swimming and sandy beaches, a short drive from the centre.
It's only worth the detour Summer. Turn up outside that window and you're looking at a different place; we'd rather say so than sell you the photo.
