A green pocket the city kept · Bangkok, Thailand
A large park built around Bueng Nong Bon, an artificial flood-retention lake in eastern Bangkok created as a royal project under King Rama IX. It is best known as a water-sports centre offering sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding, and it has a roughly 4 km bike-and-jog loop circling the water with outdoor exercise stations. There is a dog-park zone, making it popular with local pet owners.
Where Bangkok locals actually go to sail and paddle, with almost no tourists in sight.
