The largest public park in Bangkok, about 500 rai in the eastern Prawet district, built in 1987 for King Rama IX's 60th birthday. It centres on a botanical garden and a large lake with pedal boats, and includes themed international sections such as Japanese, Chinese and European gardens plus the Ratchamangkhala Pavilion. Its size and distance from the centre keep foreign visitors sparse compared with Lumphini.
Bangkok's biggest and quietest park, closer to a botanical garden than a city green.
