A cava and tapas institution on Carrer de Montcada near the Picasso Museum, open since 1929 and still family-run. The tiled, marble-countered room fills with locals and visitors drinking house cava and eating anchovies, cured meats, tortilla and conservas. It is cash-friendly, standing-heavy and famously packed, with the crowd often spilling out onto the street. Closed Mondays and for the month of August.
A near-century-old cava bar that still feels like the real, buzzing Barcelona.
