Copacabana curves about 4 km along Rio's Atlantic coast, edged by the famous Portuguese-stone wave-pattern promenade. Kiosks selling coconut water and caipirinhas, beach volleyball and footvolley courts, and the Copacabana Fort at the southern end line the sand. It hosts Rio's massive New Year's Eve fireworks and remains one of the city's liveliest, most iconic beaches.
