The experience

A landscaped terrace beside the church of Santa Luzia, this is one of Lisbon's most photographed viewpoints, looking out over the tiled roofs of Alfama to the Tagus. A pergola draped in bougainvillea shelters walls of blue-and-white azulejo panels depicting old Lisbon scenes. Benches and a small pond make it a natural pause on the walk down from the castle.
