A trail people talk about · Hanoi, Vietnam
Hanoi's largest lake, over 500 hectares with a shoreline of roughly 14.8 km, and a genuine leftover: it is a cut-off meander of the Red River, not an excavated pond. A full circuit of the shore is a half-day walk or an hour by bike, and it is the city's default dawn exercise route. The Thanh Niên causeway on the southeastern side — the old Cổ Ngư road, widened in 1957–58 by Hanoi youth volunteer brigades — splits it from Trúc Bạch lake. The villages ringing it are still known by their old trades.
A 14.8 km lap of open water inside the city, walked at dawn by everyone who actually lives here.
