The experience
A 26-hectare formal park climbing the hill north of Marquês de Pombal square, laid out with a central carpet of clipped box hedges framed by two long promenades. From the top terrace there is a straight sightline down Avenida da Liberdade to the Baixa and the river. The grounds include the Estufa Fria greenhouse garden and the Amália Rodrigues garden, and the park itself is free.
The one grand, axial city-centre park with a framed downhill view all the way to the Tagus.
