A still reservoir ringed by Hampi's giant golden boulders on the quiet Anegundi side of the Tungabhadra, where round bamboo coracles spin you across the water at sunset.
Across the river from the monuments — day-trippers rarely cross to the Anegundi bank where locals swim and picnic.
It's only worth the detour Oct–Feb, after the monsoon fills the reservoir. Turn up outside that window and you're looking at a different place; we'd rather say so than sell you the photo.
