A view worth the climb · Taipei, Taiwan
A 1,076-metre summit on the western side of Yangmingshan, and the one peak in the range that shows the Taipei basin, the Tamsui river mouth and the East China Sea from the same standing spot. The Mount Datun Multi-Peak Trail linking three summits runs about 5.4 km and takes four hours or more, but the top itself is also reachable by road. There is a free car park and clean toilets at the trailhead. Silvergrass takes the slopes in autumn, and the mountain is a known stargazing spot on clear nights.
The only Yangmingshan summit that puts the city, the river mouth and the open sea in one frame.
