The Se is Lisbon's oldest church, begun in 1147 on the site of a former mosque and built with the squat, fortress-like Romanesque lines of the reconquest era. Later earthquakes forced repeated rebuilding, layering Gothic and Baroque elements onto the twin-towered stone facade. A cloister and treasury sit behind the nave.
A thousand years of Lisbon's religious history in one fortress-church on the tram-28 corridor.
