A view worth the climb · Taipei, Taiwan
The western end of the Four Beasts ridge, reached by about 1.5 km of near-continuous stone stairs — over a thousand of them — from the last station on the MRT red line. The climb takes 20 to 40 minutes and the target is the Six Giant Rocks Observation Deck, where big sedimentary boulders sit almost directly opposite Taipei 101. Round trip is roughly 1.5 hours at an ordinary pace, or an hour if you push. Vegetation has grown up around the boulders themselves, so the built platform beside them now gives the cleaner frame.
Taipei 101 at eye level from a boulder, ten minutes' walk from the end of the metro line.
