A green pocket the city kept · Mexico City, Mexico

Mexico City's flagship urban forest spreads over roughly 686 hectares across three sections west of the center. The first section holds Lago Menor, the tree-lined calzada up to Chapultepec Castle, and the botanical garden and museums. Wide shaded paths, waterfalls and paddleboats make it the city's default green escape.
It is the one green space that packs a castle-topped hill, a boating lake and towering ancient ahuehuetes into a single walkable forest.
