A cafe worth sitting in · Hanoi, Vietnam
A cafe with no street frontage at all: you enter through a silk shop at 11 Hàng Gai, walk a corridor into an old courtyard, and climb a series of narrow staircases through the tube house above. Each level has its own seating, and the top one is a small open terrace looking straight down over Hoàn Kiếm lake — one of the only free rooftop views of it in the city. Egg coffee and fresh fruit juices are the drinks; there are noodle dishes too. It is open daily from 8am to 11pm.
The best view of Hoàn Kiếm lake costs the price of one coffee and is reached by walking through a shop selling scarves.
