Somewhere to stop moving · Hanoi, Vietnam
A massage house down a lane behind St Joseph's Cathedral, run by BlindLink, the social enterprise that has been training blind and visually impaired Vietnamese therapists since 2013. The work is dry acupressure rather than oil massage, and the therapists find the knots by touch alone. There are two branches, this one at 48 Ngõ Huyện and a second at 52/28 Tô Ngọc Vân out by West Lake. Staff refuse tips; a donation box by the door funds the training programme instead.
The best hands in the Old Quarter belong to people who were never going to get hired anywhere else.
