A gallery worth the detour · Mexico City, Mexico

A functionalist compound designed by Juan O'Gorman in 1931-32, with separate residences and studios for Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo linked by a slender bridge and ringed by a fence of tall cactus. It is a compact museum in leafy San Ángel, focused on Rivera's studio and the architecture itself. Entry is inexpensive and rarely has a wait.
An intimate, architecturally significant house-museum away from the crush of the Coyoacán Frida circuit.
