A Jongno neighbourhood that was historically the largest market for antiques and artwork in Korea, centred on the main street Insadong-gil and the side alleys branching off it. Today it concentrates commercial art galleries, calligraphy and craft shops, hanji paper stores and old-style tea houses, with the spiralling Ssamziegil shopping complex at its heart.
The traditional-arts heart of central Seoul, best explored by ducking off the main drag into the galleries and hidden teahouses.
