One of Seoul's oldest planned hanok districts, systematically developed from the late 1920s into the 1930s by developer Jeong Se-gwon, who packed numerous small hanok tightly together. Today the maze of narrow alleys holds boutiques, tea houses and cafes tucked inside the old tile-roofed houses, a modern reuse of the historic fabric.
A hanok neighbourhood you actually move through at street level, denser and more atmospheric than Bukchon's viewpoint lanes.
