Loha Prasat, the "iron castle", is the metal-spired structure at the heart of Wat Ratchanatdaram, one of only a handful of such buildings ever built. Its 37 blackened metal spires represent the 37 virtues toward enlightenment, and the 36-metre tower was first conceived under Rama III in 1846 before being completed in the twentieth century. A spiral staircase winds up through the tiers to a relic chamber at the top.
A rare tiered metal-spired temple you can climb for a quiet rooftop view over Old Bangkok.
