A protected wetland reserve on the edge of the Xochimilco chinampa zone, part of the same UNESCO-listed lake system as the famous canals. It has walking and cycling paths, observation towers over the water, wading birds and a calmer, cheaper trajinera loop than the tourist embarcaderos. Free to enter and quiet on weekdays.
It is the birdwatcher's side of Xochimilco — open wetland and lookout towers instead of party boats.
