The experience
The largest and best-known launch dock for Xochimilco's trajinera boat rides, threading the last surviving canals and chinampa (artificial-island) gardens of the ancient lake, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape. Boats glide past floating food and flower stalls; weekends turn festive with music and drinking, weekdays are calmer. An artisan and food market surrounds the dock.
Poling through the chinampa islands on a painted trajinera is the one water-borne outdoor experience unique to Mexico City.
