A museum worth a slow afternoon · New York, United States
The museum occupies the decommissioned Court Street subway station at 99 Schermerhorn Street, which opened on 9 April 1936 and closed as a station on 1 June 1946. The mezzanine holds most of the exhibits, including a bank of real turnstiles visitors can walk through and a mosaic plaque salvaged from the 137th Street station of the 1904 subway. Two tracks on the platform below carry roughly eighteen vintage cars, locomotives and work vehicles. Open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm.
