The experience
A cocktail bar at 210 Smith Street, between Baltic and Butler, pouring since 2008. Dark wood, a long bar and a back room give it a Victorian-parlour feel without the costume-drama seriousness — Time Out's line is that it is a classy joint but not a stuffy one. Cocktails average around $18 and the kitchen runs an eclectic bistro menu: duck pâté, steak tartare, deviled eggs, spaghetti and clams, fried chicken.
One of Brooklyn's serious cocktail rooms, and it will also feed you properly.
