Green space the city keeps · Marrakech, Morocco
A two-hectare walled park at Dar Tounsi on the Fès road, on the edge of the Palmeraie, opened in 2011 by the botanist and perfumer Abderrazzak Benchaâbane — the man who restored the Jardin Majorelle. The grounds are laid out as five distinct gardens: an Andalusian garden, a dry garden, a water garden, an orchard and a rose garden, with contemporary Moroccan art placed through them. You walk the gardens and the exhibition rooms together in about an hour. There is no useful public transport out here, so it is a taxi or a car.
The Majorelle restorer's own garden, five landscapes on two hectares, with a fraction of a percent of Majorelle's crowd.
