A museum worth a slow afternoon · Marrakech, Morocco
A private museum of contemporary African art in the Al Maaden estate south-east of the city, founded by the Fondation Alliances. After a major renovation it presents its permanent collection for the first time as a dedicated route of seven 'contours' — Decolonize, Transcribe, Initiate, Cohabit, Converge, Promise, Weave — plus a Connect room tracing African contemporary practice from the independence era to now, devised with Zamân Books & Curating. Temporary solo shows and in-situ commissions run alongside. Closed Monday and Tuesday.
A serious contemporary African collection twenty minutes out of the medina, and nobody queueing for it.
