The experience

A contemporary art and architecture museum on the Belém waterfront, spanning the former Central Tejo power station and a low, wave-shaped building by architect Amanda Levete. Inside, the exhibition halls are large, dim and quiet, a contrast to the busy walkable roof and river promenade outside. Shows rotate through contemporary art, architecture and technology.

The interior galleries are a cool, hushed retreat from the crowds and glare of the Belém riverfront.
