The only natural ravine inside Tokyo's 23 wards, cut by the Yazawa River at the southern edge of the Musashino Plateau in Setagaya. A footpath runs about one kilometre along the riverbed below street level, under zelkova, konara oak and dogwood, with the Todoroki Fudoson temple and a small Japanese garden at the far end. It sits roughly 20 metres below the surrounding residential streets.
Ten metres of descent takes the city's noise out entirely — a genuine gorge three minutes from a station.
