A cafe worth sitting in · Hanoi, Vietnam
The original Tranquil, a narrow house at 5 Nguyễn Quang Bích on the western edge of the Old Quarter, given over to books and long sitting. The ground floor is small; the room you want is upstairs, lined with shelves and furnished with sofas, lit by candles once it gets dark. Power sockets, including UK plugs, are set into the walls for people who are staying. It opens at 8am and closes at 10pm every day, and occasionally hosts readings and small events. A larger second branch has since opened on Trần Hưng Đạo.
A bookshop-quiet upstairs room in the Old Quarter where a single coffee holds the seat for three hours.
